New York is a city with so much to do that every time you visit, you find something new to do! I have been eyeing this Hotel for a while now ever since I saw online that they opened up this new hip rooftop overlooking the Empire State Building with fun trendy drinks! I also wanted to book something that was close to home for a quick 1-night getaway for just the wife and I. This hotel did come with a very high price tag for one night but we decided to splurge!
Check in: We drove in from CT and used their valet services, which I made the mistake of not doing my research and didn’t realize they charge a whopping $100 without in and out privileges! It was nice being able to drive up and have our door opened for us as well as our trunk and our bags retrieved for us and not having to lift a finger. It was also followed by a doorman opening the door for us and walking us to the check in desk. I have to say, THIS is why I like to stay at the RITZ. This kind of service is hard to find at other brand hotels.
Room: The room was super nice and spacious! I did let them know we were celebrating something before arriving to the hotel via email and they upgraded us to a corner room at a higher floor with a spectacular view of the Empire State Building! It was super magical looking out the window during the day and night! They also had robes for us in the room and the bathroom had a “his and hers” area. The room also had light dimmers and a “do not disturb” button in case you wanted to have some privacy.
Entertainment: We used the App TodayTix to snag broadway tickets to the Lion King about a week before our arrival and although the seats were not the best, it seemed like a sold out show and I felt lucky to have a seat! The show was phenomenal and I highly recommend to bring the family as well to see it! I suggest bringing snacks and maybe drinks to this show as they do not check bags but they do sell popcorn and candy and have a bar available for purchase. I will say be prepared for a very small tight seating area. It was not the most comfortable seat.
Rooftop: Nubeluz by Jose Andrés Rooftop inside the hotel was one of the best ways to end our night! They open up reservations 30 days out so make sure you snag a resy within 30 days from your trip to make sure you get a table. I suggest letting them know you are celebrating something and would like a table by the window because the view is totally worth it! So the rooftop does have inside and outside areas but we definitely sat inside as we went during winter months. We did run out to grab some pics with the Empire State building behind us and ran back in because it was super cold! If you are able to stop at this rooftop, I recommend getting their popular “cloud” drinks as they are super delicious as well as cool to look at and everyone watches as your drink is poured. It’s kind of a big deal! They lobster rolls were also to die for!
Food: We did order room service after having drinks at the rooftop and the food and presentation was amazing! I ordered the chicken club with fries and I am still dreaming about it!
Check Out: We did have to check out super early as we both worked the next day, but we were able to sit down at their lounge area while the valet retrieved our car and were handed waters while we waited. I always like to ask for a printed receipt of charges at check out to make sure nothing looks out of order and to keep a record as well.
Overall Experience: I think this was such a quick, but fun staycation that I highly recommend as a couple or as a family! I think next time I will splurge and book reservations at their spa, but it is super pricey!
