The Ritz-Carlton Los Angeles California

My Complete Review of: The Ritz Carlton Los Angeles California

Estimated Read Time: 10 Minutes

Arriving in LAX Airport: This airport was huge but was easy enough to follow all the signs to know where you were going. We only brought carry-ons so didn’t have to wait for any checked bags after landing. We flew with Jet blue as they had the best nonstop flight options times and the flight was really smooth.

Check In: When arriving to the hotel in our Uber, we were instantly greeted with warm smiles and our doors were opened for us to get out of the Uber and our bags were loaded on the luggage carts so we didn’t have to lift a finger upon arrival. There were doormen ready to assist us with anything we needed and opened the doors for us after asking if we were staying at the Ritz or JW Marriott as both properties share the same building. We were also greeted which champagne , which was super nice!

I did notice that JW Marriott seemed a bit more livelier with people hanging out in their lobby bar area. What I love about staying at the Ritz is the immediate great service we always receive as soon as we step foot on their hotel grounds. Other lower starred hotels don’t usually have this type of service. We let them know beforehand in the Marriott chat that we were there celebrating our Anniversary and we got upgraded to a higher floor with a nice city view and had champagne and chocolate covered strawberries waiting for us in our room which was super nice!

Room: The room was extremely nice as expected with a nice spacious king size bed with an amazing view of the city which was breathtaking at night. The bathrooms were immaculate although they did not have TVs in the bathroom like the JW Marriott properties have. They had nice robes, but unfortunately the hotel robes run small and are not stretchy by any means and they never end up fitting me so I can never take that super “basic” instagram pic of relaxing at the hotel in their famous robes LOL!

One thing I must say I have noticed in ALL hotels with carpets that I have been in, no matter how expensive, is the carpet seems to never be washed. I stopped letting my toddler run around without socks because even at the Ritz her feet end up dirty from the carpet which is such a disappointment.

Food: The only food we tried at the hotel was by the pool and room service and both times was delicious! The burger they offer was phenomenal and the fries were amazing. I cannot comment on the restaurants on the property as we dined outside of the hotel. One place we went for brunch which was really good was the Griddle Cafe. Also, we can never visit LA without eating at In and Out!

Pool: This hotel had a rooftop heated pool and jacuzzi that was really nice and we really enjoyed our time at the pool. The pool area had a bar with food service as well. We did enjoy some yummy frozen drinks and amazing burgers and fries. What I do love about the Ritz properties is that they always offer free sunscreen by the pool and beaches so I never really have to worry about packing that. They always also water as well. The pool cabanas were a nice touch by the pool and were extremely comfortable.

Hollywood Strip: I have been in the Hollywood strip before years ago but never with kids. I will say this was not a place I would bring a child or kids at all either during day and especially not at night. I felt very unsafe and uncomfortable on the strip and had to for the first time ever use the leash book-bag on my toddler and try not to let her walk on her own at any moment. We were also yelled at by a stranger upset that two women were pushing a baby stroller and made it very known they were against the LGBTQ+ community. We did thankfully book a tour of the Hollywood Celebrity houses which was really nice and fun and I highly recommend.

Check Out: Leaving the hotel we felt sad as we had such a great time at this location and hotel. Check-out was a breeze and took less than 2 minutes!

Overall Experience: I would stay at this hotel and location again as it had a movie theatre right across the street and was also walking distance to another great breakfast spot we didn’t get the chance to try. In general, Los Angeles is a great city but you see so much garbage on the streets and so many homeless people that it makes you really sad for the city. The traffic no matter what time is horrendous. You should expect to take three times the time you would think it would take to get somewhere. Besides the incident on the Hollywood strip, At the Ritz my family and I always feel welcome and safe being we are part of the LGBTQ+ community as well as people of color. I will rate this hotel and location 10/10!
