My Complete Review of: Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort
Estimated Read Time: 11 Minutes
Grand Cayman is a great island with amazing water and amazing people! I really enjoyed my stay at this resort and island! I thought the island was really interesting and the hotel was super clean as well!
Arriving in Grand Cayman Airport: Before landing in Grand Cayman airport, the flight attendants handed us forms that needed to be filled out and handed to customs upon arrival. I was a bit irritated that these forms were not handed to us with ample time to fill out while on the flight since I hate spending more time than needed leaving the airport. We had to stand to the side and fill out the forms while holding all our bags and then get in a line to hand the form and passports. Besides this situation, leaving the Grand Cayman airport was very quick and easy. I did grab a taxi from the airport to the resort.
Check In: Since I had contacted the property a week before my stay letting them know we were celebrating, they did upgrade our room. I was very pleased with all the aesthetics the lobby and entrance had as well as the complimentary water and juice available as well.
Room: Our room was really nice and spacious and included a couch and balcony overlooking the garden. The room was clean and I felt very comfortable.
Food: We had lunch on the first day across the street at this restaurant called Peppers and it was so good! We ordered their frozen drinks, oxtails, soup, and fish and everything was absolutely delicious and we even considered going back for dinner! On our first morning, we decided to opt for the Buffet brunch at the hotel and it did not disappoint! They had an assortment of foods, dessert, and an omelette station! I was very pleased by the food and variety! We had breakfast and lunch on the third day across the street to the right of the hotel at Coconut Joe’s and all their food and drinks were super delicious and I highly recommend as well!
Beach: The beach at this hotel is non-existent due to the recent hurricane but there was a shuttle that ran from 10am-5pm that took us to the nearest beach which was nice and we took advantage of that and spent a few hours at the beach. The sand and water was really nice and they had beach chairs and umbrellas for purchase for cash only. I was charged $40 for two chairs and one umbrella but I noticed others paying less just by asking! The beach chairs were not the most comfortable. There is a food truck there that served really good food called Murphy’s Kitchen!
Pool: I really enjoyed the pool area as the pool was overlooking the ocean which had an amazing view although their beach was not swimmable due to the recent hurricane. I loved that they had free towels, sunscreen, and water readily available and plenty of chairs with umbrellas to choose from with no issues.
Entertainment: I was really impressed with the activities that this resort offered. At check in, they handed you an activities sheet with daily fun activities they offered throughout the day. Since we were there a week before Christmas, they hosted in their lobby a Holiday party which was $100 per person that included an assortment of food but no drinks. I think for the price it was a bit steep and I don’t think I would attend an event like that at that price unless it included open bar. We did book a snorkeling excursion that took us to 3 different parts of the island to snorkle and swim with sting rays and starfish and this was an amazing adventure as the water was waist deep and so clean and clear and the guides were super educational and helpful! I highly recommend this excursion for kids as well as my toddler really enjoyed touching the sting rays and the star fish!
Check Out: Check out was very nice and simple. There was no airport lounges in Grand Cayman airport so that was a bit of a bummer when leaving.
Overall Experience: I would definitely come back here again because we were treated amazing at this resort and the pool area was great and clean with free towels and sunscreen and water as well as a great view! The property itself was very nice and well kept and had many instagrammable areas. We did try to check out their nightlife but it didn’t seem like much was going on. I would rate this hotel and island 9/10!
