My Complete Review of: Hyatt Residence Club Key West Windward Pointe
Estimated Read Time: 12 Minutes
Key West has always been a destination on my bucket List for years and I haven’t been able to book a trip there because staying anywhere on or near the beach in Key west has always been so expensive so I was waiting for the right deal to make my move! I found out about Hyatt’s Timeshare deal by googling “Hyatt Residence Club”, which is their vacation club, and finding a few different beach destinations for a fraction of the cost if I attend a 90 minute timeshare meeting! I knew this was my chance to finally visit Key West on a budget! I believe most of the deals require you to be 35 and older so thankfully I am married to someone above that age requirement! I did see Key west as an option on their website a month prior to booking and then once I was ready to book, the Key West option disappeared but I was still able to book over the phone with them by asking for the offer.
Arriving in Key West Airport: We flew Delta to Key West Airport from Hartford Bradley International Airport and unfortunately there was not a nonstop flight so we had to choose a flight with a layover. I had originally booked a nonstop flight from NYC with Delta and the airline ended up removing their nonstop flight options for my dates and added me on a flight with a layover. Thankfully they were nice enough to change me over to my home airport in Hartford at no charge. I only like to fly from Hartford if NYC doesn’t have any nonstop option. Otherwise, I hate layovers since Covid. Way too much risk of delays and cancellations!
Check In: We took an Uber from the airport to the hotel before realizing that the airport was only a 10 minute walk from the hotel. We were able to check into our room right away which was great and they had complimentary coffee in the Lobby which was a great pick me up!
Room: We were offered a generously sized 2 bedroom, 2 bath suite with 2 king beds and a pull out sofa that would comfortably sleep 6 people. The suite had a wrap around balcony overlooking the pool area, which was enough space for everyone to enjoy! It also had a jacuzzi in the master suite, which was a nice touch! The timeshare deal offered to us was a 3-night stay for $450, which I thought was an incredible deal!
Food: After dropping our bags in the room, we took an Uber to the closest supermarket available and got enough groceries to allow us to make breakfast each morning. We got the complimentary coffee from the Lobby as well to enjoy with our meal and for lunch we enjoyed some delicious food at the Bar and Grill by the pool. We chose to have dinner outside the Hotel at Outback Steakhouse. We also had dinner at one of the restaurants in Downtown Key west at the Flying Monkey Saloon, which was super delicious!
Beach: The beach was nothing out of this world but it was nice and clean. The water was nice and clear. We did rent 4 beach chairs and 2 Umbrellas for a crazy price of $200! We knew that being in Key West, we were expecting to pay something enormous! We did bring our own drinks and snacks so we saved money there. The walk to the beach was about 15-20 minutes from the hotel and you had to cross a very busy main road which was a bit nerve wrecking but it was doable, although it was extremely hot outside.
Pool: I really enjoyed the pool at this resort. They had a nice temperature pool along with an infinity side overlooking the ocean. They also had a jacuzzi! There were plenty of pool chairs available to pick from at any time of the day. I did notice that there were little to no kids during the weekdays we were there and then kids started showing up during the weekend part of out trip.
Vacation Club: When it was time to attend our timeshare meeting, we had a shuttle that picked us up to take us to downtown Key West in the city center and realized that we were able to take this shuttle during our trip to do some shopping and sightseeing and also stay for the night life. The meeting did take about 2 hours, way longer than the 90 minutes promised to us and they were super chatty and tried to keep us there longer and got upset when we mentioned the 90 minutes and that we were not interested in purchasing anything. Finally, they offered us to come back for a 4 night stay at their Beach House property for $1000 along with 50,000 Hyatt points but I immediately declined as I didn’t find this offer appealing at all!
Entertainment: Although the hotel itself doesn’t have any entertainment, their downtown area is great for nightlife entertainment! We did have to Uber back to the hotel after having a great time out since the shuttle only ran during the day. I will say this place has AMAZING night life! We enjoyed hookah and drinks at many of the rooftops available, and sang some Karaoke as well. This place was super super fun and definitely gave me New Orleans vibes with all their rooftop bars!
Check Out: Check out was super easy and quick and we enjoyed drinks by the pool before walking back to the airport as it was so close and no sense in taking an Uber.
Overall Experience: I would definitely stay here again but maybe try and find a more beachfront property , but overall I would rate this hotel a 9/10 as the room was AMAZING and super nice and clean and exceeded my expectations but I really disliked the 10 minute walk to the beach! I also really enjoyed how welcoming and LGBTQ+ friendly Key West was, which made our experience that much better!
